Bai Qian

Bai Qian (Cynanchum). Its scientific name is Rhizoma Cynanchi Stallntonii. It is acrid and sweet in flavor and slightly warm in nature. As per TCM definition it enters the Lung meridian. It has expectorant properties: it expels phlegm, relieves cough and congested chest; it redirects rebellious qi downward; Bai Qian is used when Lung qi fails to disperse causing wheezing and coughing up copious sputum regardless of cold or heat patterns. It is also used to treat internal fevers and bronchitis.
